Founded at the University of Miami School of Law more than 60 years ago, you can attend in person or virtually with registration opening in the fall. The Institute will take place January 11–15, 2027, in Orlando, Florida.

  • When will the 61st Annual Heckerling Institute registration and hotel reservations open?

    Late Fall.  If you are on the Institute Mailing List you will receive an email when both open!

  • What are the 61st Annual Heckerling Institute registration fees?

    Early Registration Fee: $1,200 (Registrations received on or before September 30, 2026)

    Regular Registration Fee: $1,250 (Registrations received on or after October 1, 2026)

    All Attendees
    Approximately one week prior to the Institute, all registered attendees receive a password protected link via email to access and download the Institute materials. The materials will be available on the Institute platform until February 15, 2027.  The conference materials are copyrighted and may not be duplicated, reused, or shared without the written consent of the Heckerling Institute.  Attendees will also be able to view recorded videos of all the sessions on the Institute platform through February 15, 2027. Continuing education credit will be granted only for sessions attended live in person or virtually in real-time.

    Virtual Attendees
    The registration fee for virtual attendance includes online access to the educational sessions and Institute materials.  Approximately one week prior to the Institute, virtual attendees receive a password protected link via email to access the live virtual presentations during Institute week.  To receive continuing education credit, attendees will be required to confirm their real-time participation in the sessions by responding to polling questions. 

    Advance online registration is required. Credit card payments only. Register by Friday, November 6, 2026 to be included on the Institute Registration List. For additional information please email  Heckerling@law.miami.edu. Sharing registrations is not permitted.

    Discounted Registration Fee for Full-Time Law School Faculty: $900 (Please email your request to Heckerling@law.miami.edu and provide the name of the law school where the attendee is a full-time faculty member.)

  • What does the registration fee include?

    • Educational Programming Monday - Friday
    • Institute Materials: Approximately one week prior to the Institute, all registered attendees will receive a password protected link via email to access and download the Institute materials. 
    • Daily Continental Breakfast: Enjoy breakfast in the Exhibit Hall 1 hour before Institute programming.
    • Daily Networking Breaks: Located in the Exhibit Hall
    • Institute Welcome Reception: Monday 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. in the Exhibit Hall
    • Exhibit Hall: Access to our unique exhibit hall featuring the latest in technology, goods, and services available to estate planning professionals.
    • Daily Transportation: Complimentary shuttle to and from the Marriott Village during programing hours Monday - Friday.

  • What are the Cancellation Fees?

    Registration fees are refundable (less a $150 administrative fee) if written notice is received by Tuesday, December 15, 2026. To cancel your registration, send an email to Heckerling@law.miami.edu. For more information regarding administrative policies such as complaints or refunds, please email Heckerling@law.miami.edu or call 305-284-4762.

  • Can I attend the Heckerling Institute virtually?

    Yes, virtual attendance is available. Registration for virtual attendance includes online access to educational sessions and Institute materials. About one week before the Institute, virtual attendees receive a password-protected link to join live sessions during Institute week. To earn continuing education credit, virtual attendees must confirm real-time participation by responding to polling questions during the sessions.

    We do encourage attending in person when possible, so you can network at social events and visit our exhibit hall featuring the latest estate planning technology and services.

  • Can I attend part in-person and part virtual?

    To ensure you receive Continuing Education credit, participation must be completed in a single format—either fully live in-person or fully virtual in real-time. Choose the option that best fits your schedule.

  • When can I pick up my badge?

    The Registration Desk opens on Sunday, January 10, 2027, from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. in the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort & Convention. Attendees enjoy picking up their badge while they network with colleagues the afternoon before the Institute opens on Monday.

    The Registration Desk reopens on Monday, January 11, 2027 at 8:00 a.m. and Tuesday - Friday at 8:30 a.m.

  • Can I purchase printed materials or a USB drive?

    Printed materials and USB Flash Drive will not be available.

  • What is the attire?

    Business casual

  • Can I receive a list of attendees before the Institute?

    Registered attendees can access the Registration List on the virtual platform approximately one week prior to the Institute.

  • Will I be photographed or recorded during the Institute?

    Attendance at, or participation in, the Heckerling Institute constitutes agreement to the Institute’s use and distribution of the attendee’s or participant’s image in photographs, video, and electronic media for educational and promotional purposes. Recording of sessions is not permitted.

  • Do you have future dates for the Heckerling Institute?
